Diwali is one of the biggest festivals on the Indian calendar and more and more Australian organisations are realising that if they want to showcase their values of diversity and harmony, or perhaps even acknowledge their staff or clients who hail from an Indian background, then this is the perfect time to do it.
That’s why companies like Westpac and Commonwealth Bank are ensuring a full-scale celebration of this festival. Last night our Bollywood dancers, DJ and Indian drummer (dhol player) performed at RACV Club for Westpac's annual Diwali celebration for their VIP clients. The crowd went crazy on the dance floor thanks to our friendly team of dancers to started the party with a stunning Bollywood show. I find that sometimes all we're there to do is give audiences permission to really let go and have fun. Without our team of dancers, people have no-one to engage the audience and the party fizzles before it ever kicks off.
In case you’re a small company with a small budget, there are still things you can do to celebrate such as, getting your staff members to dress up in Indian costumes or bringing a share-plate of Indian food. It doesn’t have to be complicated or elaborate. We even have Bollywood dancer teachers who can come in to your workplace and conduct a short 20-30 min Bollywood dance workshop at a low cost.
